Well somehow it is already time to pack up and leave India. I don’t know how but our two and a half weeks are already over. Tomorrow morning early early we head to Bangkok. I haven’t posted because we haven’t been doing much really, but somehow I am exhausted. The three of us are very sad to leave but looking forward to a little r&r before heading back to the states. We’ll check in from Thailand!
Just wanted to take a moment to check in. It is noon on the 31st here so Happy Halloween to all of you in the states. We are doing fine here, overfed and underslept. Sofia has acclimated just fine and is adjusting better than any of us, except with her sleep. We are all still jetlagged, Sofia probably the worst though. She woke up yesterday at 3:30am, took a 4 hour nap with me in the afternoon, then slept on and off the rest of the night, only to wake at 5:30am this morning. At least she is getting closer to her normal 9am wake up. She is sleeping right now and Ajay is off with his mom so I am taking a moment to do some work and write a quick post. Our past couple days have been very hectic with meeting friends before they head back home from the holiday. I keep thinking I can’t possibly eat any more and then someone asks “another gobi paratha?” and I say “sure, why not?”. I mean really, why not?
Our bags have arrived at the airport which is a good thing. We can finally wear something besides what we wore on the plane… actually we went shopping the first day and it was a good excuse to get some new clothes. It was a bit of an experience to go to the mall as with all the goings on around here they have stepped up security. Nothing like having the underside of your car checked with a mirror before entering the parking garage of the mall.
Other than that there is nothing else new to report. Just eating, visiting, and trying to sleep when we can. Isn’t that what a vacation is all about after all?
Safe and sound. No major issues on the plane, Sofia basically slept the whole way from Bangkok to Singapore and from Singapore to Delhi which was nice since those were the legs where she was on my lap. About and hour outside of Delhi Ajay woke me up to mention that there was no visa in my passport… yea see when I changed my name I didn’t want to pay to have my visa moved from one passport to the other so last year I just brought them both. This year I totally forgot so the visa and my old passport are sitting at home in Portland. Luckily Auntie Gigi is awesome and she rushed to our house, got the passport and tried to fax the visa to the immigration office here. At the end of it all we just had to get a 14 day tourist visa for me while we wait for my old passport to arrive (thanks again to Auntie Gigi).
Our bags aren’t here yet which shouldn’t be an issue for now, as long as they do arrive at some point. See not only am I so smart I left my visa in Portland but I am so smart I packed my engagement ring that needed to be fixed, along with my wedding ring, in my checked bags. Yup, that’s me… so smart.
Well 12 hours to be more exact. We are almost to India, waking this morning in our hotel room in Bangkok. Well rolling over and checking the time to be more exact. Not much sleeping happened as Sofia decided she didn’t want to sleep, just kick Ajay and pinch me during our short stay. I wasn’t surprised though as Sofia is behaving as most 22 month old children would on little to no sleep. She was an angel to Seattle, great on the flight from San Fran, then about hour 5 during our flight to Seoul she decided she didn’t want to sit, or stand, or walk, or sleep, or play, or watch cartoons, or do much of anything but scream. It was on and off for a few hours. Nice right. She was an angel though from Seoul to Bangkok and has been a trooper all things considered. We are heading to the airport now, only two legs of our journey left before reaching Delhi… India here we come!
